Top InfoSec Innovator 2026 Award

DALLAS, TEXAS – October 20, 2026 – BackBox is proud to announce we have been named the winner of the following awards from Cyber Defense Magazine (CDM), the industry’s leading electronic information security magazine:

  • Publisher’s Choice for AI/ML for Cyber Resilience
  • Market Leader for Vulnerability Intelligence

This marks the third consecutive year BackBox has been recognized in Cyber Defense Magazine’s Top InfoSec Innovator Awards, following Market Leader for Cyber Resilience in 2024 and Editor’s Choice for Cyber Resilience in 2025.

“Being recognized in both categories we entered is meaningful validation of Backbox's approach to AI and vulnerability management. We apply AI where it earns trust, using validated data and keeping people in control of every decision, so network and security teams can identify the vulnerabilities that matter in their environment and act quickly. I’m proud of our team and of the customers who keep pushing us to raise the bar,” said Rekha Shenoy, CEO of BackBox.

Publisher’s Choice AI/ML for Cyber Resilience recognizes BackBox’s approach to responsible AI. BackBox applies AI and machine learning to aggregate vulnerability data from publicly available sources, including CISA, NVD, NIST, and vendor advisories, and to standardize vendor workaround guidance into a consistent format, enabling teams to make quick, informed decisions. This approach aligns with BackBox’s principles for AI: trustworthy, consistent, and accurate results; human-centered control that treats AI as a trusted advisor rather than the sole decision-maker; and transparency in how recommendations are generated. The same philosophy underpins Kilter AI, introduced in September as part of the Kilter Platform.

Market Leader Vulnerability Intelligence recognizes that BackBox helps network and security teams act on risk across network infrastructure. BackBox matches known vulnerabilities to each customer’s inventory of network and security devices, lists only the CVEs relevant to a device’s make, model, and operating system version, and highlights those being exploited in the wild. Drawing on advisories from more than 180 vendors, the platform reflects changes within hours of public release and provides teams with options to automate updates or mitigate risk through configuration workarounds.

The wins follow a strong year of recognition for BackBox, including a Global InfoSec Award for Next-Gen Network Cyber Resilience at the RSAC Conference 2026, AI-Powered Enterprise Solution of the Year at the 2026 Tech Ascension Awards, and a second consecutive placement on the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies.

“BackBox embodies three major features we judges look for in potential winners: understanding tomorrow’s threats today, providing a cost-effective solution, and innovating in unexpected ways that can help mitigate cyber risk and get one step ahead of the next breach,” said Gary S. Miliefsky, Publisher of Cyber Defense Magazine.
